Walailak University Hosts Module 2 Training on “Team Management” to Strengthen Leadership and Build Resilient Teams

The Division of Human Resources and Organization Development at Walailak University continued its training program, “Capacity Building for Mid- and Junior-Level Managers at Walailak University,” with Week 2: Module 2 – Team Management, held on May 15–16 and 29, 2025. A total of 44 participants from the university’s mid- and junior-level management attended the training.

This module focused on comprehensive team management development, covering three core topics:

  1. Providing Feedback at the Individual and Team Levels and Conflict Management, delivered by Mr. Wittapon Jawjit, Assistant Chief Human Resources Officer at Banpu Public Company Limited.

  2. Coaching and Mentoring, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pawarut Puangsri, psychiatrist and Deputy Director of Walailak University Medical Center Hospital, along with his team.

  3. Collaboration and Agile Teamwork, facilitated by Mr. Pasakorn Kangwanchansiri, an expert team-building trainer and facilitator from Add Friend and Smile Co., Ltd.

Participants gained practical knowledge and strategies applicable to real-world team management, including building foundational collaboration, promoting agile teamwork, handling conflicts constructively, and unlocking the potential of team members effectively.

The three-day training was filled with enthusiasm, teamwork energy, and dynamic interactions. Participants engaged in creatively designed activities and benefited from the diverse experiences of expert trainers from both the public and private sectors. The program successfully broadened perspectives and significantly enhanced the leadership and team management skills of Walailak University’s management personnel.

On May 27, 2025, representatives from the Passport Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited the Human Resources Division of Walailak University. The purpose of the visit was to clarify and ensure understanding of the guidelines for applying for official passports.

The primary objective of this meeting was to facilitate and provide clarity for Walailak University personnel who need to travel abroad for official duties. Representatives from the Passport Office explained the necessary steps and documents required for official passport applications. They also answered various related questions to ensure the process is accurate, prompt, and in accordance with government regulations.

A representative from Walailak University’s Human Resources Division thanked the Passport Office representatives for providing valuable information. They emphasized that this clarification of procedures will help university personnel prepare and apply for official passports more efficiently, which will benefit the university’s international missions.

HRO Launches Training Program to Develop Mid- and Junior-Level Management Potential

The Division of Human Resources and Organization Development at Walailak University organized the 2024 training program titled “Capacity Building for Mid- and Junior-Level Managers at Walailak University (CBMM-WU).” The first week of the program, held from April 23 to 26, 2024, kicked off with Module 1: Self-Management, with a total of 44 participants.

This initial module focused on deep personal development, covering four key topics:

  • Roles and Responsibilities of Management-Level Employees

  • Self-Discovery, Self-Assessment, and Self-Development Planning, delivered by Dr. Aporn Phuvitayaphan, a renowned HR author and Deputy Managing Director of Thai Skill Plus Co., Ltd.

  • Mindset Shift for Transforming Attitudes and Work Behaviors, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nopporn Thamrongrat and team

  • Mindful Leadership, facilitated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saifon Ekwarangkoon and team, through practical and experiential learning activities

On the final day of Module 1, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Warit Jawjit, Vice President of Walailak University, honored the event by attending the workshop session, observing activities, and engaging in informal knowledge-sharing with the participants. The atmosphere was warm, friendly, and full of enthusiasm.

Participants gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience—not only in enhancing their managerial skills but also in understanding how to develop their inner selves. The tools and techniques shared by expert speakers enabled attendees to apply what they learned in both their professional and personal lives, fostering a balanced leadership mindset and preparing them to drive sustainable growth within the organization.

HR team helps relieve the heat, spreading happiness with refreshing cold drinks at the ‘Walailak Songkran Tradition Celebration’ event.

On April 9, 2025, the Human Resources and Organization Division participated in the “Walailak Songkran Festival: Preserving Tradition 2025,” held at the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Walailak University.

The Human Resources and Organization Division of Walailak University joined in celebrating the Thai Songkran tradition at the “Walailak Songkran Festival: Preserving Tradition 2025” by setting up a refreshing drinks booth to provide cool beverages to staff and attendees.

The HR Division’s booth offered a variety of refreshing drinks, including Thai iced tea, green tea, and refreshing Dang Soda, which were very popular with attendees.

The event aimed to celebrate the Thai Songkran tradition, which expresses gratitude to elders, and to strengthen relationships between the university and the surrounding community. It also aimed to preserve Thailand’s valuable arts and culture.

The division’s participation also fostered positive relationships between staff within the department and with staff from other university units. The atmosphere was filled with smiles, joy, and camaraderie.

Welfare Administration and Benefits Division, Human Resources and Organization, in Collaboration with the Faculty of Public Health, Organizes Occupational Accident Prevention Training for 112 Participant

On March 25, 2025, the Welfare Administration and Benefits Division of the Human Resources and Organization Department, in collaboration with the Faculty of Public Health, organized a training session on “Occupational Accident Prevention” at Phattharathammaphorn Room, Walailak University Medical Center. The training was divided into two sessions, morning and afternoon, with a total of 112 registered participants.

The objective of this training was to enhance knowledge and understanding of occupational accident prevention, enabling participants to apply this knowledge to ensure safety in their work practices.

A representative from the organizing team expressed gratitude to all participants for their support, which contributed to the smooth execution of the event.

Distinguished speakers from the Faculty of Public Health shared their knowledge and experience through theoretical lectures, demonstrations, and group activities, empowering participants to effectively apply their learnings in real-world work scenarios.

This training initiative is part of the organization’s occupational safety and health policy, which emphasizes fostering a culture of safety and encouraging employee participation in accident prevention, thereby creating a safe and healthy work environment for everyone.

 

Human Resources and Organization Development Division Conducts Official Document Writing Training

On February 7, 2025, the Division of Human Resources and Organization organized a training course on “Official Document Writing for Fiscal Year 2025” at the Phattaradharmaporn Conference Room, Walailak University Hospital. The training aimed to enhance the official document writing skills of all staff members.

The training aimed to provide staff with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and methods of writing official documents, including the appropriate use of language to ensure effective and efficient internal and external communication.

Assistant Professor Dr. Thaddaw Rakmak, Head of the Thai Language Program, Faculty of Arts, Walailak University, served as the keynote speaker. Over 80 participants attended the training, which covered topics such as:

  • Understanding different types of official documents, including internal and external memos and stamped documents.
  • Basic official document writing for beginners.
  • Techniques for writing concise and engaging official documents.
  • Appropriate word choice and phrasing.
  • Correct formatting of official documents.

This training demonstrated Walailak University’s commitment to developing its staff by providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform their duties effectively and professionally.

The ceremony was attended by high-ranking executives, deans, directors, and heads of departments to demonstrate their commitment to driving the university toward its established goals.

The primary objective of the ceremony was to ensure that all operational activities for the 2025 fiscal year align with the university’s established targets and indicators. High-level administrators signed performance commitments, affirming their responsibility for achieving departmental objectives and ensuring that all missions are accomplished according to plan.

This signing ceremony signifies the dedication and commitment of all staff members to drive the university towards its vision and mission. It also promotes transparency in operations and serves as a foundation for evaluating the performance of individuals and departments in the future. On January 21-22, 2025, the Division of Human Resources and Organization  Walailak University held an orientation program for new staff members of the fiscal year 2025. The event took place at the Hua Taphan Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, Walailak University Hospital. The program aimed to welcome new members to the Walailak family and provide them with a comprehensive understanding of the university’s culture, goals, and strategic direction.

The event was graced by the presence of Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, who delivered a keynote speech on “Results-Based Management: Monitoring, Evaluation, and Innovation Development.” The speech provided new staff members with inspiration and a fresh perspective on their roles in driving the university forward.

A variety of activities were organized throughout the orientation, including ice-breaking sessions to foster camaraderie among new staff, group discussions, and workshops on various topics such as research support systems, career development, and university regulations. These activities aimed to equip new staff members with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their roles.

WU Sport Day 2024: A Fun-Filled Event Fostering Unity Among Staff

On December 25, 2024, the Human Resources and Organization Development Division, in collaboration with the Walailak Club, organized the annual staff sports day, or WU Sport Day 2024, under the trendy theme “Christmas Jeans.” Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, graced the occasion as the presiding officer, while the President of the Walailak Club delivered the opening remarks.

The return of the sports day after the COVID-19 pandemic marks a significant step in promoting the health and well-being of all staff members. Coming together for this event once again has strengthened relationships and fostered a more enjoyable work environment. In addition to promoting the physical and mental health of staff, this event also aims to build a strong organizational culture by encouraging teamwork, participation, and creativity—essential factors in driving the organization forward.

For this year’s sports competition, staff members were divided into four teams: blue, yellow, green, and pink. Each team showcased their unique colors and creativity through various sports competitions such as chairball, ha-he (tug-of-war, relay race, and eating competition), and parades with cheering squads, creating a fun and exciting atmosphere.

WU Sport Day 2024 is another important event organized by Walailak University to promote unity among staff members and foster a positive work environment. It also demonstrates the importance of taking care of one’s health and participating in various organizational activities.

Hosts “Generative AI for New Lecturers” Workshop: Transforming Teaching and Research with ChatGPT

Walailak University conducted a workshop titled “Generative AI for New Lecturers: Revolutionizing Teaching and Research with ChatGPT” on December 11, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM at Hua Taphan Conference Room, Walailak University Medical Center. The event aimed to equip new lecturers with knowledge and skills to utilize Generative AI in teaching and research. Asst.Prof.Dr. Nichnan Kittiphattanabawon was the guest speaker in this event.

With the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), particularly Generative AI, which excels at creating new content, Walailak University recognized the potential to enhance teaching and research methods. The workshop emphasized integrating Generative AI with lecturers’ academic expertise to drive innovation.

The primary tool for the training was ChatGPT, a highly capable language AI model. Participating lecturers explored practical applications of ChatGPT in teaching and research through examples and hands-on exercises, allowing them to develop use cases tailored to their specific needs.

Key workshop topics included:

  • Designing lesson plans
  • Writing research articles
  • Developing active learning activities for classrooms

The program also addressed ethical considerations and appropriate usage guidelines for Generative AI. The goal was to empower lecturers to use these technologies effectively, fostering innovation and advancing teaching and research capabilities.

The workshop covered foundational topics such as:

  1. Concepts of Generative AI
  2. Understanding ChatGPT and AI chatbots
  3. Use cases for teaching
  4. Use cases for research
  5. Ethical considerations

The program was designed to raise awareness and provide actionable knowledge on Generative AI, enabling new lecturers to adopt and apply these tools responsibly and creatively in their academic roles.
