HRO Honors Retiring Staff in Heartwarming Ceremony

Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand, September 20, 2024 – In a heartwarming ceremony filled with gratitude, Walailak University’s Human Resources Division hosted a retirement appreciation event for its dedicated staff who retired in fiscal year 2024. Held at the Huatapan Room in the university’s medical center, the event was a testament to the university’s appreciation for the invaluable contributions of its retiring employees.

The event was well-attended by faculty, staff, and administrators, all eager to express their gratitude and best wishes to the 13 retirees. These individuals have made significant contributions to the university throughout their careers.

Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanawong, President of Walailak University, addressed the gathering, saying, “Our staff are the backbone of our university. The success of Walailak University today is a result of the dedication and sacrifice of each and every one of you. Those retiring today have made exceptional contributions to our institution. The Human Resources Division, together with the Digital Technology Center, organized a training workshop to improve academic staff performance evaluation using the HRMS, WU-RSS, and WU AWS systems.

On the afternoon of September 10, 2024, the Human Resources Division, in collaboration with the Digital Technology Center and the Institute for Research and Innovation Excellence at Walailak University, organized a workshop to provide training and enhance the skills of academic staff in using the HRMS performance evaluation system. The workshop was held both in-person at the Huatapan Meeting Room, Walailak University Medical Center, and online via Zoom Cloud Meeting and Facebook Livestream on the HROWU fan page.

Associate Professor Dr. Warit Jawjitt, Vice President, along with the Human Resources team, Assistant Professor Dr. Thimaporn Petchkaew, Acting Director of the Digital Technology Center and her team, and Mr. Thitikorn Thong-iad, General Administrative Officer from the Institute for Research and Innovation Excellence, graced the occasion with their presence and provided valuable guidance. The primary objective of the workshop was to ensure that all staff members have a thorough understanding and can effectively utilize the HRMS system for the annual performance evaluation in the fiscal year 2024.

During the workshop, participants received detailed presentations and demonstrations on how to use the HRMS system. The programming team from the Digital Technology Center explained the various steps involved, from logging in and entering performance data to reviewing and submitting research outputs through the WU-RSS system. Additionally, participants were given the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas.

This workshop marks a significant step forward in enhancing the efficiency and transparency of the university’s performance evaluation process for academic staff. By encouraging all academic staff members to participate in self-assessment, the university aims to promote continuous personal and organizational development.

Walailak University Hosts Grand WU Innovation Days 2024

Walailak University recently held the grand WU Innovation Days 2024, a platform to showcase the innovative works and creative ideas of its personnel. The event aims to enhance the capabilities of its workforce and promote the application of innovations in real-world work.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Warit Jawjit, Vice President of Walailak University, opened the event by emphasizing that this initiative aligns with the university’s policy of becoming a high-performance organization. The focus is on developing innovations to improve work efficiency, reduce processes, save time, and cut costs.

A wide range of innovative projects were presented at the event, including a co-op student information dashboard, an automated campus tour system, and many more. In the poster session, various departments showcased their innovative works in a visually appealing and concise manner, enabling staff to learn techniques and tools for developing innovations.

The WU Innovation Days 2024 took place from August 28-30, 2024, at the Phattaradharmaporn Auditorium, Walailak University Hospital. The event was open to all personnel, students, and interested parties.

Human Resources and the organization jointly participated in the royal tribute ceremony, offering floral tributes and lighting candles to pay respect to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother on Her Majesty’s birthday on August 12, 2024, at Nakhon Si Thammarat City Square.

On August 12, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Warit Chaojit, Vice President of Walailak University, along with representatives from the Human Resources and Organization Department, participated in a ceremony to pay respects to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother. The event included the offering of floral tributes and the lighting of candles to offer blessings on the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty’s birthday at Nakhon Si Thammarat City Square in Mueang Nakhon Si Thammarat District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

The Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat presided over the ceremony, offering floral tributes, incense, and candles before paying respects to a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother. A candle-lighting ceremony and a recitation of a blessing were also held, followed by a rendition of the Thai Mother’s Anthem to express gratitude for Her Majesty’s immeasurable kindness towards the Thai people.

August 12th of each year marks the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother and is celebrated as “Mother’s Day” in Thailand. For the year 2024, Her Majesty graciously granted the following Mother’s Day message, as published in the 2024 Mother’s Day book by the Thai Social Welfare Council under Royal Patronage: ‘Bound by love woven with life, nurturing another life until it grows, weaving threads of virtue into the heart. Walailak University HR Team Visits Top Universities for Benchmarking

A team of faculty from the Human Resources and Organization Division at Walailak University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Warit Chaojitt, recently embarked on a study visit to Thaksin University, Songkhla Campus, and Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai Campus, on May 2-3, 2023.

The primary objective of this study visit was to exchange knowledge and learn about best practices in human resources management and HR information systems, particularly the application of technology to enhance operational efficiency. The team aimed to bring back insights to improve the HR processes and organizational practices at Walailak University.

Associate Professor Dr. Warit Chaojitt stated, “Human resource management plays a vital role in an organization’s success. Having the opportunity to learn from leading universities will provide us with new ideas that we can adapt to the context of Walailak University, ultimately benefiting our staff development and organizational growth.”

Human Resources and Organization Division Celebrates Songkran with Traditional Thai Customs

On April 12, 2024, the Human Resources and Organization Division organized a Songkran celebration to preserve Thai traditions. The event, held at the division’s office, featured traditional activities such as bathing the Buddha image and paying respects to elders.

The atmosphere was warm and friendly as division members came together to participate in these time-honored customs. They began by bathing the Buddha image to seek blessings for the Thai New Year, followed by paying respects to Dr. Permrudee Noonsang, the Acting Head of the Division.

In addition to preserving Thai traditions, this event served to strengthen relationships among division members, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie.

Training Course: “Utilizing ChatGPT to Enhance Research Capabilities for New Faculty”

The Human Resources and Organization Division, in collaboration with the Digital Technology Center, organized a training course entitled “Utilizing ChatGPT to Enhance Research Capabilities for New Faculty” on Wednesday, March 20, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Phattaradharmarporn Meeting Room, 9th Floor, Building C, Walailak University Medical Center.

The target audience for this training was new faculty members with less than two years of experience and limited exposure to Generative AI. The training format included lectures, demonstrations of use cases, and practical guidance on using the tool.

Associate Professor Dr. Nicha Nant Kittipattanabovorn (Assistant to the President) served as the main speaker, while Ms. Nawaporn Chaisena acted as the assistant lecturer. A total of 34 participants attended the training.
