HRO Holds the Signing Ceremony of the Performance Agreement for Fiscal Year 2026

On 15 January 2026, from 1:30 p.m. onwards, the Division of Human Resources and Organization of Walailak University organized the Signing Ceremony of the Performance MOU for Fiscal Year 2026 at Hua Taphan Meeting Room, Chulabhorn Wechawat Building, Walailak University Hospital.

The ceremony was held to affirm a shared commitment among heads of units and university executives to perform their duties responsibly, efficiently, and in alignment with the University’s goals throughout Fiscal Year 2026.

On this occasion, Ms. Natyaporn Sittisuwan, Acting Head of HRO, delivered the report on the objectives of the event and gave the opening remarks. The President of Walailak University graciously presided over the ceremony and signed the performance agreement.

More than 60 executives participated in the event, including Vice Presidents, Assistant Presidents, Center Directors, and Heads of Divisions/Units/Offices. The ceremony proceeded smoothly and reflected strong cooperation and commitment to driving the University’s missions toward the successful achievement of its strategic objectives in a sustainable manner.

Walailak University Hosts Module 5 Training to Enhance the Capacity of Mid- and Junior-level Administrators through Strategic Planning Presentations

On July 17, 2025, the Division of Human Resources and Organization of Walailak University organized a training activity under the program “Capacity Building for Mid- and Junior-level Administrators of Walailak University” . The focus of this fifth module was “Research Report Preparation and Presentation.” The training was held at Hua Taphan Conference Room, Walailak University Hospital, with Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, presiding over the event. He was joined by 12 senior administrators, including vice presidents and assistant to the presidents, who attended the presentations and provided constructive feedback to all participant groups.

The program participants, who are mid- and junior-level administrators at the university, were divided into six groups to prepare research reports and present strategic plans for managing Walailak University over the next four years. These plans were developed by applying the knowledge, experience, and tools acquired from the previous four modules of the course:

  1. Self Management

  2. Team Management

  3. Driving Performance Excellence

  4. Study Visits and Experiential Learning, which included visits to Banpu Public Company Limited, Mahidol University (Salaya Campus), and Kasetsart University (Bang Khen Campus).

The aim of this activity was to enable participants to effectively utilize the tools provided throughout the course to plan, improve, and develop university management systems, fostering efficient internal operations that align with future changes and challenges.

On this occasion, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong expressed his appreciation for all participant groups for delivering high-quality strategic plans. He emphasized the importance of integrating technology into administrative tasks and organizational management. He noted that modern administrators must possess the knowledge and skills to leverage technology effectively, both in operational functions and human resource management. This, he stressed, is crucial for propelling Walailak University toward sustainable excellence in the years ahead.

The Division of Human Resources and Organization Development at Walailak University organized the 2024 training program titled “Capacity Building for Mid- and Junior-Level Managers at Walailak University (CBMM-WU).” The first week of the program, held from April 23 to 26, 2024, kicked off with Module 1: Self-Management, with a total of 44 participants.

This initial module focused on deep personal development, covering four key topics:

  • Roles and Responsibilities of Management-Level Employees

  • Self-Discovery, Self-Assessment, and Self-Development Planning, delivered by Dr. Aporn Phuvitayaphan, a renowned HR author and Deputy Managing Director of Thai Skill Plus Co., Ltd.

  • Mindset Shift for Transforming Attitudes and Work Behaviors, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nopporn Thamrongrat and team

  • Mindful Leadership, facilitated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saifon Ekwarangkoon and team, through practical and experiential learning activities

On the final day of Module 1, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Warit Jawjit, Vice President of Walailak University, honored the event by attending the workshop session, observing activities, and engaging in informal knowledge-sharing with the participants. The atmosphere was warm, friendly, and full of enthusiasm.

Participants gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience—not only in enhancing their managerial skills but also in understanding how to develop their inner selves. The tools and techniques shared by expert speakers enabled attendees to apply what they learned in both their professional and personal lives, fostering a balanced leadership mindset and preparing them to drive sustainable growth within the organization.

On January 23, 2025, Walailak University’s Division of Human Resources and Organization, in collaboration with the Office of the Director and Secretariat, held a Performance Commitment Signing Ceremony at the Phattaradharmarom Meeting Room, 9th Floor, Walailak University Hospital. The ceremony was attended by high-ranking executives, deans, directors, and heads of departments to demonstrate their commitment to driving the university toward its established goals.

The primary objective of the ceremony was to ensure that all operational activities for the 2025 fiscal year align with the university’s established targets and indicators. High-level administrators signed performance commitments, affirming their responsibility for achieving departmental objectives and ensuring that all missions are accomplished according to plan.

This signing ceremony signifies the dedication and commitment of all staff members to drive the university towards its vision and mission. It also promotes transparency in operations and serves as a foundation for evaluating the performance of individuals and departments in the future. Notably, in 2024, Walailak University ranked 1201+ globally and 6th in the country, demonstrating the success of its strategic planning. Moreover, the university achieved a global ranking of 3rd in governance according to the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2025, a testament to the collective efforts of all departments.

Walailak University HR Team Visits Top Universities for Benchmarking

A team of faculty from the Human Resources and Organization Division at Walailak University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Warit Chaojitt, recently embarked on a study visit to Thaksin University, Songkhla Campus, and Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai Campus, on May 2-3, 2023.

The primary objective of this study visit was to exchange knowledge and learn about best practices in human resources management and HR information systems, particularly the application of technology to enhance operational efficiency. The team aimed to bring back insights to improve the HR processes and organizational practices at Walailak University.

Associate Professor Dr. Warit Chaojitt stated, “Human resource management plays a vital role in an organization’s success. Having the opportunity to learn from leading universities will provide us with new ideas that we can adapt to the context of Walailak University, ultimately benefiting our staff development and organizational growth.”

Highlights of the study visit include:

  • Exchange of knowledge on HR information systems: Participants studied and compared the HR information systems of the three universities to identify ways to modernize and enhance the system at Walailak University.
  • Learning best practices in HR management: Participants learned about various aspects of HR management, such as recruitment, talent development, performance evaluation, and employee welfare.
  • Building networks: The study visit also provided an opportunity to network with personnel from the two universities, fostering future collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Walailak University is Ranked Joint Third in Thailand, 501+ in the World, by Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2023.

Walailak University has been ranked 501+ among 605 universities across 78 territories worldwide by Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2023. This achievement places Walailak University in joint 3rd in Thailand. The results were released on 3 July 2023 at 16:00 Thailand local time.

The Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings uses the same 13 indicators as THE World University Rankings, but the weightings have been adjusted to align with the missions of young universities, which are 50 years old or younger, with less weight on reputation.

Among the five assessed areas – teaching (30%), research (30%), citations (30%), international outlook (7.5%), and industry income (2.5%); Walailak University received its highest score in industry income, with a score of 37.2, followed by international outlook (36), teaching (23.3), research (15.4), and citations (14.5).

According to the THE Young University Rankings 2023, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore tops the chart. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology came in second place, followed by Paris Sciences et Lettres – PSL Research University Paris in France in third place. Mae Fah Luang University has been ranked No. 1 in Thailand and is placed at 301-350 in the world.

Previously, Walailak University was assessed against the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and achieved a ranking of 401-600 among 1,591 participating universities worldwide by THE Impact Rankings 2023. The university was placed at 601+ in Asia by THE Asia University Rankings 2023. Walailak University has been recognized as a world-class university by THE World University Rankings 2023 and ranked at 1501+ among 1,799 universities ranked globally. Additionally, QS Asia University Rankings 2023 placed Walailak University at 551-600 in Asia.
