HRO Holds Second New Employee Orientation of Fiscal Year 2025 – Empowering Staff with Knowledge for the Walailak Way

Walailak University, through its Division of Human Resources and Organization, organized the “New Employee Orientation, Second Session of Fiscal Year 2025” during 13–14 August 2025 at Hua Taphan Conference Room, Walailak University Medical Center Building, and Moklan Conference Room, Professor Dr. Vijit Srisuant Building. A total of 76 participants attended, comprising both academic staff and professional support staff.

The program aimed to provide new employees with knowledge and understanding of the university’s policies, goals, vision, mission, philosophy, values, and management approaches, as well as workplace regulations, rights and benefits, and organizational culture. These are considered essential elements in enabling new staff to work effectively and in alignment with the university’s development objectives.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, who delivered an opening address and a keynote lecture on “Result-Based Management: Monitoring, Supervision, and Innovation Development in the Workplace.” This was followed by a lecture on “Walailak Identity – The Spirit, Ethics, and Good Governance” by Associate Professor Dr. Warit Jawjit, Vice President, and a session on “Welfare and Benefits” by Dr. Premrudee Noonsang, Acting Head of the Division of Human Resources and Organization.

The program also featured the “Pride of Walailak” activity to foster a sense of pride in being part of the university community, alongside training sessions on key topics such as research support systems and research standards, academic writing and publication, ethical approvals for research involving humans and animals, biosafety, career advancement, basic information systems, personnel regulations, financial procedures, and procurement.

The orientation was conducted smoothly and was marked by the enthusiasm and active participation of the attendees, reflecting the readiness and determination of new staff members to perform their duties effectively and grow alongside Walailak University in a sustainable manner.

The Division of Human Resources and Organization, Walailak University, successfully conducted Module 3 of the training course on “Developing the Potential of Middle and Lower-Level Managers at Walailak University,” titled “Driving Performance Excellence.” The training was held from May 22-24, 2025, at the Hua Tapan Room, Walailak University Hospital.

The objective of this training was to equip the university’s middle and lower-level executives with the skills necessary for effective management and for achieving organizational goals. Key topics included:

  • Supervision, Control, Performance Monitoring, and Improvement, with a special lecture by Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University.

  • Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS or OpEx), led by Dr. Kanokkan Ketkaew, Acting Associate Dean of the School of Management.

  • Innovation Development with Design Thinking, presented by Ajarn Songphan Chanthong, a lecturer from the School of Liberal Arts.

  • Relevant Laws for Managers, taught by Assistant Professor Jintana Unhavaitaya, Head of the Legal Division.

The training environment was collaborative and lively. Participants actively engaged in Q&A sessions, exchanged ideas with the speakers, and enthusiastically participated in hands-on workshops. This approach fostered a deeper understanding and developed practical skills applicable to their management roles. This course marks another significant step in Walailak University’s commitment to empowering its personnel for sustainable excellence.

On January 23, 2025, Walailak University’s Division of Human Resources and Organization, in collaboration with the Office of the Director and Secretariat, held a Performance Commitment Signing Ceremony at the Phattaradharmarom Meeting Room, 9th Floor, Walailak University Hospital. The ceremony was attended by high-ranking executives, deans, directors, and heads of departments to demonstrate their commitment to driving the university toward its established goals.

The primary objective of the ceremony was to ensure that all operational activities for the 2025 fiscal year align with the university’s established targets and indicators. High-level administrators signed performance commitments, affirming their responsibility for achieving departmental objectives and ensuring that all missions are accomplished according to plan.

This signing ceremony signifies the dedication and commitment of all staff members to drive the university towards its vision and mission. It also promotes transparency in operations and serves as a foundation for evaluating the performance of individuals and departments in the future. Notably, in 2024, Walailak University ranked 1201+ globally and 6th in the country, demonstrating the success of its strategic planning. Moreover, the university achieved a global ranking of 3rd in governance according to the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2025, a testament to the collective efforts of all departments.

The Human Resources Division, together with the Digital Technology Center, organized a training workshop to improve academic staff performance evaluation using the HRMS, WU-RSS, and WU AWS systems.

On the afternoon of October 10, 2024, the Human Resources Division, in collaboration with the Digital Technology Center and the Institute for Research and Innovation Excellence at Walailak University, organized a workshop to provide training and enhance the skills of academic staff in using the HRMS performance evaluation system. The workshop was held both in-person at the Huatapan Meeting Room, Walailak University Medical Center, and online via Zoom Cloud Meeting and Facebook Livestream on the HROWU fan page.

Associate Professor Dr. Warit Jawjitt, Vice President, along with the Human Resources team, Assistant Professor Dr. Thimaporn Petchkaew, Acting Director of the Digital Technology Center and her team, and Mr. Thitikorn Thong-iad, General Administrative Officer from the Institute for Research and Innovation Excellence, graced the occasion with their presence and provided valuable guidance. The primary objective of the workshop was to ensure that all staff members have a thorough understanding and can effectively utilize the HRMS system for the annual performance evaluation in the fiscal year 2024.

During the workshop, participants received detailed presentations and demonstrations on how to use the HRMS system. The programming team from the Digital Technology Center explained the various steps involved, from logging in and entering performance data to reviewing and submitting research outputs through the WU-RSS system. Additionally, participants were given the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas.

This workshop marks a significant step forward in enhancing the efficiency and transparency of the university’s performance evaluation process for academic staff. By encouraging all academic staff members to participate in self-assessment, the university aims to promote continuous personal and organizational development.
